This interview with Aboudou Mohamed Youssouf (born in 1937), former seaman in the French Navy and companion of President Ali Soilihi (1937-1978), invites us to shed a new light on the independence movements in the South-West of the Indian Ocean, and more specifically in the Comoros. Aboudou Mohamed Youssouf relates mainly his travels across imperial waters, places of multifacetted struggles and belongings. He also wrote an autobiography in 2017: De la Marine française à la Révolution comorienne (Paris, 4 Etoiles éditions). This interview took place on the 30th April 2019, near Paris.
