Author Guidelines

Submit to journal

L'Education Ouverte et Libre - Open Education is a multilingual scientific journal. Interested in submitting to this journal ? Please read the About the Journal page and the Author Guidelines below.

Authors need to register with the journal prior to submitting or, if already registered, can simply log in and begin the five-step process.

Requirements

The article should include: a title, the name(s) of the author(s) and for each author, his/her affiliation(s). In addition, each article should include a short abstract of 150-250 words and four to six keywords in the language of the article.  The total word count should be around 6,000 words, excluding references.

Within the submission process, authors are required to check that their submission complies with the following rules:

  • The submission has not been previously published, nor submitted to another journal for consideration. If this is not the case, please provide information in the "comments to the editor" field.
  • For the written parts, submission files are in OpenOffice, LibreOffice or Microsoft Word format. For oral submissions, files are in MP3 or WAV.
  • The formatting of the text is aligned and consistent throughout the text and uses one bibliographic style.
  • In addition to the article, the author must provide the title of the article, 5 keywords and a short abstract of about 250 words. The author must also provide an extended summary of 1000 words in one of the UN languages. This extended summary will then be translated by the journal in the 5 remaining UN languages.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • Length: the manuscript should be about 6000 words but this can be negotiated.
  • Required para-documents are to be submitted with the article, particularly the author's self-assessment declaration.

Standards

The formatting of the text is under the authors' responsibility: it must be aligned throughout the text and use one bibliographic style consistently.

Intellectual property

Intellectual property rights are with the author(s).

With regard to copyright / copyleft, the author chooses the open licence that suits him or her best. This licence will indicate how the article can be used.

Please note that reproduction and transmission of journal content should in any circumstances credit the author and original source.

Submission Workflow

The Submission process is a simple five-steps process :

1. Start

You can submit contributions in any language. You do not need to fill in every fields in French and English even if the interface allows it. Choose either one or the other.

You must choose at least one journal section and one categorie.

The checkboxes ask you to check that your submission complies with the journal's requirements.

2. Upload files

  • Upload your submission file in OpenOffice, LibreOffice or Microsoft Word format. When file is uploaded Choose Article Text for the question "What kind of file is this?"
  • Upload your self-assessment declaration. When file is uploaded Choose "Author self-assessment " for the question "What kind of file is this?"
  • (Optional) Upload other files such as dataset, Multimedia item, research instrument. Choose the category that fits best your file for the question "What kind of file is this?"

3. Enter Metadata

For this step, a title, an abstract (150 - 250 word) and the list of authors are required.

4. Confirmation

This step asks you to confirm before sumitting.

Information completed is saved at each step, you can logout and login later to modify it.

Once submitted, all information is transmitted to the editor and can no longer be edited.

5. End

Your manuscript is submited. This last screen provides you with information on the future review process and your next steps.
