Citizenship education (national or global) can be a fruitful way to promote interculturality if it moves in (at least) two directions that contradict current trends at the international level. First, they must be able to go beyond the neoliberal development models in which education systems are rooted, which requires, among other things, a thorough analysis of the causes of the many inequalities and sources of conflict in order to find responses that are conducive to structural change. Second, these actions require changes in pedagogy, particularly with regard to the media used. In this respect, we will focus on the use of art and music in educational systems to address interculturality. To illustrate our point, we will draw on research, mainly qualitative, that we have conducted in sub-Saharan Africa and Europe.
