eLectures : la lecture numérique grand public à la BCUL

Résumé

Cet article a pour but de présenter un retour d’expérience après 2 ans d’exploitation de la plateforme eLectures à la Bibliothèque cantonale et universitaire de Lausanne (BCU Lausanne ou BCUL) qui permet à toute personne inscrite d’emprunter des livres numériques dans un catalogue d’environ 11'000 titres.

Après un historique du projet qui rappelle les difficultés de le mener en Suisse, si loin des éditeurs français, nous observerons l’offre documentaire de la plateforme, puis nous nous concentrerons sur une partie plus « marketing » en décrivant les options prises pour la promotion d’eLectures, le profil de ses usagers, la médiation à leur égard et les relations avec le fournisseur. Nous détaillerons ensuite quelques perspectives d’avenir pour ce service qui a trouvé son public mais qui en a encore à conquérir.

Summary

The aim of this article is to provide a feedback after 2 years of operations of the eLectures platform at the Bibliothèque cantonale et universitaire de Lausanne (BCU Lausanne or BCUL). This platform allows every registered user of the library to borrow e-books in a catalogue of about 11'000 titles.

After a description of the project background, which is a reminder of the extra difficulties to lead it in Switzerland, so far away from French editors legislative context, we will discuss the documentary offer of the platform. Then we focus on the marketing side of the project describing options taken to promote eLectures, the profile of its users, the mediation towards them and the relationships with suppliers. Eventually, we will detail future prospects for this offer which found its audience but still has to reach a part of it.
