Résumé

J’ai écrit ce texte spécifiquement pour cette conférence et mes idées sont donc encore à l’état brut. Je ne suis pas non plus historienne, bien que mes recherches ethnographiques soient profondément influencées par les récits historiques oraux de mes sujets. Il s’agit d’un texte exploratoire, encore en cours d’élaboration, et j’espère que vous pardonnerez la nature provisoire de mes réflexions. Ce texte a été rendu public pour la première fois le 1er octobre 2021, lors de la conférence « Gender and materiality in Central and Eastern Europe in the 20th century » qui s’est tenue à Sciences Po dans la ville de Paris. Une version plus courte de ce texte a été publiée dans un Festschrift pour l’historienne bulgare Maria Todorova (Ghodsee 2023, 235-246), avec le soutien de l’Institut Leibniz d’études de l’Europe de l’Est et du Sud-Est à Regensburg, en Allemagne.
