Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration. Otherwise, an explanation has to be provided in "Comments to the Editor".
  • The submission file is in a file format such as : OpenOffice, LibreOffice or Microsoft Word.
  • The text has a single spacing and is justified. It uses the font Times New Roman, 12 points. Title hierarchy is clear with minimum formatting. Translitteration, coptic and greek: unicode encoding ; otherwise, please submit the fonts with your paper
  • Illustrations, figures and tables are placed at the appropriate positions, in the text rather than at the end. Please include [insert fig. x] where appropriate and include captions for every illustrations with copyrights.
  • The bibliography is indicated in footnotes. The editorial team recommends in particular the system advised by the Lexikon der Ägyptologie.
  • A brief summary of the article (max. 600 characters) is provided in French and in English, as well as 3–5 keywords in French and in English.

Author Guidelines

  1. Articles are accepted in French, German, Italian and English.
  2. Manuscrits considered as definitive must be sent in a file format such as Word/Open Office/Libre Office on the submission interface of the BSÉG or at info@segweb.ch.
  3. The submitted article has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration. 
  4. Priority is given to brief articles.
  5. Every manuscript is anonymously reviewed (single blind) by a Peer-review comity. The manuscript sent for review must be anonymous.
  6. The ideas expressed in the articles are the sole responsibility of the author(s).
  7. Authors should obtain the authorizations of publication and reproduction of the documents mentioned.
  8. Authors will send with their manuscript a brief abstract (max. 600 characters) in French and English and 3–5 keywords also in French and English for indexing the article in search engines and scientific databases.
  9. Authors should follow the editorial and bibliographic recommendations.
  10. Footnotes must be used for the bibliographic references and to substantiate the main topic. Long digressions or discussions in footnotes will then be avoided.
  11. Authors will use a clear and precise system of abbreviation and of bibliographic references. The editorial team recommends in particular the system advised by the Lexikon der Ägyptologie.
  12. Unsatisfactory manuscript will be sent back for adjustment.
  13. The quality of reproduction of the illustrations depends above all of the quality of the original files sent to the editorial team. Authors will send illustrations in high quality separately, preferably in tiff format. The publication of drawings and photographs in colours is welcomed for the electronic version, but it has to be noted that the paper edition will be in black and white.
  14. No text modification is admitted on proof; only small typographic and orthographic corrections are taken into account. The publication of addenda is in the hands of the editor.
  15. No charge is asked for submitting or publishing.
