Abstract

Spiders are known for their solitary and cannibalistic behavior but some species are social. This is the case of Anelosimus eximius which forms colonies with hundreds of spiders living in a common web. Hunting spiders start and stop quickly and at the same time while moving towards their prey. Detailed analyses explain how this impressive ballet could emerge from simple behavioral rules.
