Abstract

The Global Pediatric Emergency Research Network (PERN)–COVID-19 Study sought to understand the risk factors for severe SARS-CoV-2 infections in youth by conducting a cohort study including children, with early or mild stages of disease, seeking emergency department (ED) care. The study identifed that risk factors such as age, underlying chronic illness, and symptom duration may be useful to consider when making clinical care decisions.
